Pair of antique apothecary pots in glazed ceramic, Tuilerie Normande de Bavent

Set of two old apothecary pots in glazed ceramic. Signed "tn bavent" (tuilerie de normandie de bavent) under the base. The norman city of bavent has been known since the 15th century for its clay deposits. In 1842 a manufacturer from mâcon, maurice comptet installed wood-burning ovens and created an industry that still exists. The pots are in an excellent state of preservation. With a cracked effect but without crack or shine. The handmade and painted pots are 17 cm high and about 8.5 cm in diameter.
