With his younger brother Östen Kristiansson (1927-2003), he developed the company into one of the most refined manufacturers of Scandinavian lighting and furniture in the mid-20th century. The two brothers grew up in a woodworking environment. Their father founded Vittsjö Möbelfabrik in 1929, where they learned woodworking, construction techniques, and material knowledge from a young age. This technical training greatly influenced the precision and finish of later Luxus creations. Although Luxus is primarily known for its lighting from the 1950s and 1960s, the company also produced furniture. The creations are inspired by the ideals of modern Scandinavian design: clean lines, authentic materials, and harmonious proportions. In addition to table lamps, floor lamps, and wall lights, various pieces of furniture were featured in the catalogues, illustrating the full range of the company's activities and stylistic language. These catalogues provide valuable insight into how lighting and furniture were designed as part of a cohesive interior vision. In the 1950s and 1960s, many models were created by the brothers Uno and Östen Kristiansson themselves. They developed a body of work that reflects architectural clarity combined with understated details, characteristic of Swedish modernism of the time.
