Fjord Armchairs by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso, 2005, Set of 2

The Fjord armchair by Patricia Urquiola for Moroso is amongst the well-known designs of the early 21st century from the Italian furniture manufacturer. The model was designed in 2002, with the two examples offered here manufactured in 2005. Both are upholstered in white leather in the 'Pelle bianco puro' finish with decorative topstitching that follows the shell contour. The seat shell consists of cold-moulded polyurethane foam and carries the organic form of the chair. Base and stem in powder-coated steel are square in proportion and create a formal contrast to the soft shell form. Fully rotatable and fitted with a high backrest, the Moroso swivel chair is suited for extended seating. With dimensions of 100 × 70 × 103 cm, it is conceived as a space-filling piece. In a living room or representative reception area, the Fjord chair in white creates a clear focal point. As a pair, both chairs can be arranged as a conversation grouping or as a symmetrical counterpart to a lounge table. Manufacturer labels 'MOROSO' on the underside are present. Minor scratches on the base are documented; the overall condition is very good.
