A true antique find: a rare small earthenware vegetable dish from the late 19th century, with a beautiful patina, adorned with a delicate cobalt blue decoration depicting sailboats and maritime scenes all around the body, framed by blue floral friezes. A restrained and refined aesthetic, typical of Delft or Rouen-inspired productions, reinterpreted. The domed lid, enhanced with a sculpted knob, adds a touch of understated elegance. The piece rests on its matching sealed platter. Stamped A. Lebacqz & M. Bouchart, at the time of the merger into the Société des Faïenceries de. Saint-Amand & Hamage, with the rampant lion mark replacing the previous one featuring a standing monkey wearing a Phrygian cap and holding a globe. Diameter including plate: 24 cm, Height: 15 cm, Diameter of container: 16.5 cm. Very good condition – very slight patina from age, beautiful shine, slight natural crazing in the enamel, no cracks or chips. A distinctive piece to collect or to incorporate into a classic chic decor, family home, or seaside setting.
