Malicorne ceramic "verrière" glass cooler planter

This antique cooler is made of malicorne earthenware. Signed "jm", for the jules moreau period of the malicorne earthenware factory in sarthe, it is made of earthenware covered with a milky white glaze. Of fine quality, this basket is decorated with notches on the edge to slide the stems of the glasses into. It is a glasswork: the glasses were immersed in iced water to keep the beverage at the right temperature... This cooler measures 33 cm X 11 cm high X 19.5 cm. I note a chip on one handle.
