Mid-Century Table Lamp with Geometric Wood Inlay, English, circa 1955–1965

English table lamp from the 1950s–60s with a hand-turned wooden base featuring geometric inlay work. The design centers on alternating bands of contrasting woods—walnut and lighter tone—arranged in rectangular blocks around the body. The base tapers to a refined pedestal foot, executed with clean machining and hand finishing. Fitted with original brass fittings and bajonet (British Cap) fitting, which dates the piece to English production. Original cord intact. Supplied with new linen cone shade in cream. The geometric inlay and quality of the turning indicate mid-market English manufacture—likely a smaller maker or retailer producing for the home market rather than export. Solid, functional piece with restrained modernist aesthetic. Turned wood (walnut and contrasting timber), brass fittings, original cord, linen shade (new). Good vintage condition. Base shows age patina on wood surface consistent with use; finish is stable. Bajonet fitting works cleanly. Original cord is functional.
