Large animal subject in polychrome glazed earthenware from the Saint-Clément factory, with a discernible mark under the tail as well as "France" and a number, antique/vintage from the mid-20th century, around 1930-1950. An expressive model of a fox, in a lively posture, made after a design by Karl Kraner for Rosenthal in the 1920s-30s. A rather uncommon piece in a polychrome shade rarer than the typically monochrome animal earthenware from the St-Clément factory. Length 40cm, width 15cm, height 19.5cm. Very good overall condition with two fine discreet scratches on the top of the front paw and on the flank at the back. Weighs approximately 800g, hollow body.
