He was born in Athens, Greece, in 1937 to a father of Greek-Italian origin and an Austrian mother. Zalloni's career began in 1960 after studying design at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna. He initially worked in furniture design in Siena, Italy, before moving to Germany in 1962 to design decorative glassware and three highly successful pottery lines for Steuler: "Zyklon, " "Facette, " and "Continua." Zalloni died in 2012. *** About Steuler: The company was founded by Georg Steuler in Höhr-Grenzhausen in 1917. Steuler reached its artistic peak in the 1960s and 1970s and became best known for the "Zyklon, " "Facette, " and "Continua" series by designer Carl Zalloni. Most of Steuler's vases are of above-average quality. Until 1966, Steuler was based in Höhr-Grenzhausen. From 1994 to 1996, ceramics were manufactured by Tonart Ververs, but this company ceased to exist in 1996 due to a lack of interest in its products. Steuler Fliesen GmbH, independent of Steuler since 1984, still exists today and manufactures tiles and refractory systems. *** Careful shipping.
