For sale is a magnificent and rare Art Nouveau oyster plate in majolica, produced by the famous Wasmuël pottery in Belgium at the end of the 19th century (circa 1890). This finely crafted collector's piece features a naturalistic relief decoration consisting of 6 wells adorned with large green acanthus leaves and anemone flowers in pastel tones (pink and ecru). The central well, intended for lemon, showcases an elegant openwork geometric pattern. The scalloped edge is highlighted by a delicate blue frieze with scroll and dotted motifs. On the reverse, the plate bears a workshop mark painted in blue with cobalt oxide under the glaze, characteristic of this renowned Belgian manufacturer. Condition: Superb overall condition for its age. The earthenware is sound, and the glaze has retained all its shine and original colours. No major chips, no through cracks or restorations to report (see detailed photos of the front and back). Normal signs of use and patina of time under the support foot. Ideal for: Collectors of majolica, enthusiasts of Art Nouveau tableware, or charming decor/cabinet of curiosities. Very careful and ultra-secure shipping guaranteed.
