Antique Chesterfield armchair Brown leather wingback chair

A magnificent antique Chesterfield-style armchair, more commonly known as a wingback chair, with an oak base and brown leather upholstery. The backrest is tufted and dates from the first half of the 20th century. These armchairs were typically placed near an open fire. The wide side pieces, known as "wings," were designed to retain the radiant heat from the fire and protect against drafts. Imagine the comfort this must have provided. Furthermore, this armchair is very comfortable; the seat is of high quality and will last for many years. The leather has a unique and distinctive patina, worn in strategic places over the years.
