These 3 masks are representative of the muta mayola movement created by grégoire massengo, an african sculptor who had a considerable influence from the 1950s until his death in 1978. He is, with his cousin benoit konongo, the best-known representatives of the muta mayola school, an artistic movement that was born around 1930 on the outskirts of brazzaville.
