Pair of brutalist armchairs in solid oak, French work circa 1950, with a very pronounced sculptural and artisanal charm. These pieces feature a robust construction in solid wood with a beautiful warm grain, typical of post-war European brutalist furniture. The lines are understated yet powerful, blending an architectural seat with turned and hand-cut details, notably the twisted front legs and the openwork quadrilobed motif in the backrest, a decorative signature very characteristic of this period. The whole exudes an elegant monastic and primitive aesthetic, akin to the rustic modernist productions of France and Belgium in the 1950s. The low and generous proportions provide a true sculptural presence while remaining perfectly functional. Very beautiful original patina with signs of time consistent with age, enhancing their authenticity and character. A rare and decorative pair, ideal for a wabi-sabi, brutalist, Mediterranean, or high-end contemporary interior. Condition: very good vintage condition. Material: solid oak. Period: circa 1950. Origin: Europe.
