Superb and rare set of 4 antique fine earthenware bouillon cups, stamped Digoin & Sarreguemines, bearing the famous "Timor" decoration, in a typical Japanese style of the 1920s–1935s. Each cup features an oriental scene with kimono-clad figures, pagodas, and stylized floral elements, in a rich palette of brick red, empire green, deep blue, and saffron yellow tones, evoking the "famille verte" or "Imari" decorations dear to lovers of Asian aesthetics revisited in a European style. The rim is highlighted with a hand-oxidized red line, and the interior is decorated right down to the bottom, with great finesse of execution. The angular side-handle shape, very Art Deco, is typical of consommé cups of this period. Stamped with the crowned coat of arms "Digoin & Sarreguemines" intaglio + printed blue stamp. Estimated period: 1925–1935s. Diameter 8 cm, height 4.5 cm. Very good overall condition, minimal signs of wear consistent with age, patina on the bottom of one of the cups and a small chip on the rim of one of the cups. Perfect for diverted use or to display in a kitchen with vintage charm. A refined classic to collect, especially in this stamped version, rarer than simple pieces marked "Timor".
