Rare four-legged tabouret Massue by Charlotte Perriand, France, 1960s. Usually made with three legs, this unique version was created on request by a client. Its thick circular seat rests on four slightly flared cylindrical legs, providing great stability. The wood's grain, enhanced by its original honey patina, gives it a warm and natural character. Simple and robust, this stool illustrates the utilitarian and sincere aesthetic of mountain furniture and modernist interiors of the time. It shows signs of use and a beautiful patina of age. Provenance: Les Arcs, circa 1960. Bibliography: Jacques Barsac, Charlotte Perriand: Un art d'habiter, Norma Éditions, Paris, 2005. Model to be compared reproduced p. 192, 460.
