"Barrel" armchairs Art Deco, sometimes referred to as barrel chairs. This type of seat appeared around 1920-1930, featuring a backrest and armrests in the shape of a continuous semicircle, a deep and comfortable seat, and a visible wooden structure (often beech or oak) with decorative nailhead trim on the belt, and short legs integrated into the uprights. Typical Art Deco blackened wood structure. Solid front uprights that extend the armrests (style from 1925). Regular upholstery nails. Low and enveloping proportions. French or European manufacture from 1925-1935. The red velvet upholstery is not original, likely reupholstered in the 1970s-80s. (Originally, it was more likely to be: mohair velvet, leather, or chenille fabric). Cabaret-style runners from the Crazy Horse. In good condition consistent with age.
