Set of four chairs by renowned designer david rowland for howe denmark. The chairs are stamped underneath. David rowland's 40/4 stackable chair is one of the flagship designs of the 20th century. Its elegant lines, remarkable ergonomics and extraordinary ability to create space without consuming much continues to be appreciated by architects and designers till this day. They won the grand prize of the milan triennial in 1964. An undisputed icon of multi-functional design, the 40/4 chair is among design collections and museums around the world. They are in very good condition overall. Zero rust on the chromed metal frames. Colour matte white. Very minor flaking of the paint is visible on some of the chairs which can be easily restored. Skates missing on one of the chairs. The history of the name comes from the fact that it is possible to stack 40 of these chairs on a height of 4 feet (120cm).
