Large Louis XV wall mirror, carved wood, rocaille – 19th century

Superb large wall mirror in Louis XV style, made of carved and pierced wood, with rare elegance and a strong character. Its shaped frame with sinuous and soft curves invites refinement in the rocaille style: generous scrolls, chiselled acanthus leaves, shells, and finely hand-sculpted scrolls create a richly ornamental ensemble. The particularly elaborate pediment is crowned with a rolled parchment element, a true signature of the Louis XV style in all its decorative whimsy. The frame's border, entirely pierced with openwork patterns, adds lightness and sophistication to the whole. The antique brown-gold patina, a result of time and use, gives this mirror an undeniable authentic charm. Some slight signs of wear, chips on the reliefs, and occasional missing pieces testify to its age and call for minor restorations to restore its full brilliance.
