These planters are therefore beautiful 19th-century pieces, in the style of 17th-century delftware, but made in paris by the samson factory, which produced high-quality objects for a clientele in search of luxury and history. They feature a rich blue and white decoration of interior scenes animated by characters and inspired by the dutch 17th century. Note, for example, the presence of a checkerboard floor, typical of flemish and dutch paintings of the period, curtains framing an opening, common in bourgeois interiors, or a medallion portrait hanging on the wall, a detail often seen in dutch genre painting. Each vase has 4 distinct interior scenes. Square in shape, they rest on elegant blue spherical feet. These planters can also be used as vases. Under the base, there is a mark in blue, with the initials sm corresponding to the samson workshop and an X corresponding to the artist who hand-painted the decorations. The samson house is a famous parisian workshop active from the middle of the 19th century (1845 exactly) until the very beginning of the 20th century. Founded by édouard samson, then taken over by his son émile samson, this factory specialized in the reproduction of ancient ceramics (earthenware, porcelain) inspired by european and oriental productions. These 2 pieces of art are in very good general condition. Dimensions: - width of 17.2 cm - square side of 10.2 cm - square opening of 7.0 cm weight of one of 833 grams and the other of 800 grams very careful and tracked shipping.
