Antique painting, landscape under the snow, signed Fallet 1967

Charming oil on canvas depicting a birch grove in winter, under a blanket of snow. Marcel Fallet displays a beautiful mastery of light and contrast: the luminous whites of the snow blend with the browns and greens of the foliage in a calm and poetic atmosphere. Artist: Marcel Fallet: French artist, painter, died in 2024 at the age of 85. • Title: Birch Grove Under the Snow. • Year: 1967 (dated on the canvas) • Technique: Oil on canvas. • Dimensions: 61 X 50 cm (canvas only) 72 X 62 cm (with frame) • Frame: Gilded wood with a beige canvas mat (original frame, in good condition, with some stains and minor wear to the gilding). The frame is not particularly interesting to me and would even benefit from being replaced to better showcase the canvas. (It can be sold without the frame.) • Signature: Signed "M. Fallet" and dated "67" in the lower right corner. • Exhibition label on the back: Les Artistes Indépendants Foréziens (near Saint-Étienne), mentioning the title and a period price (350 F) • Condition: Very good overall condition – a fine, discreet scratch at the top, no tear. Fresh and vibrant colors.
