Bastiano 2-seater sofa by Afra & Tobia Scarpa for Knoll Int 1980s

A design classic by Afra & Tobia Scarpa; the Bastiano series was designed during the 60s with an eye on elegance and comfort. The design evolves around a open structured geometrical wooden frame that has a mid-high positioning. The positioning of the feet follows the direction of the frame, which creates an interesting effect. The bolts that connect the frame are visible, which gives a slight constructionist look. The pillows lie inside the frame, providing optimal seating comfort. The Bastiano sofa features a palissander rosewood frame, which is a rarity to come by nowadays and a configuration that’s not available at Knoll anymore. The pillows are black leather, complementing the classic look of the Bastiano series. The original pillows still bear the original Knoll markings, and there’s an original quality label attached to the sofa as well. The sofa is in very good and original condition with some slight patina and discoloration visible on the pillows. The wood has been remarkably well kept. The sofa comes from first owner.
