History...in 1791, gio-batta vistosi was appointed gastaldo dell'arte - head of the glassmakers' guild - and became the delegate of the owners of the murano furnaces. The decline of the venetian republic and the workers' revolts marked a long dark period in the production of art glass. During this century, many kilns closed permanently and the art seemed to die out. It was not until 1945 that guglielmo vistosi opened a new oven in murano. In the 1950s, under the direction of guglielmo's grandchildren, vistosi's production shifted to lighting articles and enjoyed considerable success. The decisive development towards success was the association of the production with the most famous designers of the time such as gae aulenti, ettore sottsass, adalberto dal lago, etc. In 1989, moretti, an entrepreneur from murano with long experience in the glass industry, acquired the prestigious brand and founded vetreria vistosi. Even today, highly skilled artisans create the world's most exciting glass lamps. Vistosi glass... Vistosi blown glass is produced from a unique blend. Once the sodium is reduced to a minimum amount, the glass seems to acquire the characteristics of steel: it is resistant and does not tarnish over time. The craftsmanship of each piece is revealed by imperceptible differences on the surface. This glass globe is complex to make due to its size and the use of two types of glass. L.
