Here is a terracotta bust of a young asian woman by gaton hauchecorne (1880-1945). Artist's proof, signed and dated 1942. Gaston hauchecorne spent most of his professional life in china where he was a professor at the university of beijing, consular director and diplomat. He created many subjects in terracotta and bronze representing chinese characters, sometimes with humorous connotations. He exhibited, among others, at the colonial exhibition in marseille in 1922.
