Pair of "Palmeras" lamps, Christian Techoueyres for Maison Jansen, gilded brass, 1970s – France

Excellent pair of wall lamps or sconces, palm tree design, by Christian Techoueyres for Maison Jansen, France, 1970s. These lamps feature a sculptural design in hand-cut and welded brass, shaped like palm leaves with finely serrated edges. The design combines, in an avant-garde style, naturalistic details with a bold decorative presence, characteristic of Maison Jansen's production at that time. Christian Techoueyres maintained a close collaboration with Maison Jansen, the legendary Parisian interior design house founded in 1880, which worked for clients such as the Kennedys, the Rothschilds, and the Shah of Iran. From the 1960s onwards, the firm developed a series of metal lamps with floral and palm motifs that became icons of 20th-century French design. They can be hung on the wall or, by adding a base, become a beautiful floor lamp. Hidden between the leaves are three small bulbs that, when lit, cast a warm light through the perforated brass. Pieces of great design and sophisticated elegance, bringing refinement and exclusivity to any space.
