Maché paper basket, Napoleon III

Beautiful basket in papier-mâché, napoleon III style. Elegant little floral motifs on a slightly golden yellow background, wavy border. Can be used as a pocket, bread basket, nice state. L. 35 cm l. 25 cm h. 5 cm. A bit of history: The papier-mâché was projected into the spotlight in england thanks to the patent filed by henry clay in 1772. Blotting-like sheets of paper were glued to each other to obtain solid panels called "paper ware". Subsequently, the french term "paper chewed" begs to refer to it. It was in the 19th century that there was a real craze for this material. People liked it perfectly smooth and lacquered. Paper-chewed factories have developed to make everyday objects in series.
