Scandinavian beech and teak armchair, 1960s

Beech frame, teak armrests and bouclé fabric upholstery. Danish production, 1960s. The frame combines a solid beech structure with teak armrests. The latter are supported by shaped elements that clearly distinguish them from the main frame, highlighting the contrast between the two wood species. The slightly curved backrest is fixed to the side uprights and reflects the same restrained construction that characterises the chair as a whole. The seat and backrest have been reupholstered in a melange cotton-blend fabric with a bouclé effect, renewing the original upholstery while respecting the character of the piece. Through its proportions, construction quality and attention to detail, this armchair reflects the language of Danish furniture production in the 1960s, where quality was expressed through craftsmanship and construction rather than decoration.
