Art deco vase from the 1930s, produced by Józefina Glassworks in what was then Poland, made of high-quality crystal glass in a warm, amber-yellow shade of medium saturation. Its form is based on a strong, round base from which a slender, distinctly ribbed body rises, ending in a wavy, petal-like rim. The shiny, precisely polished surface highlights the clarity and depth of the glass, while the vertical grooves give the body an elegant geometry and a play of light and shadow characteristic of the art deco era. The decoration combines geometric restraint with a floral reference in the upper part, typical of this style. The material is uniform and smooth to the touch, with no other textures except for the noble grooves. The piece is in very good, original condition – only minimal signs of age are visible, characteristic of items from the 1930s, with no losses or repairs. The glass body carries a story from the 1930s – a time when modernism met artistic craftsmanship, and the saturated colour of the glass became a symbol of luxury. The vase appears as an artefact of a pre-war European urban salon: the geometric ribbing speaks of a fascination with machinery and symmetry, while the wavy rim evokes a petal motif, giving the whole a lyrical note. Light reflected from the smooth surface enlivens the amber shade, as if time preserved in it the echo of interiors lit by lamps from the era. In this form, one can sense the harmony between utilitarian function and the decorative ambition of the art deco years. The vase can be successfully placed on a marble mantelpiece, a walnut wood console, or a glass table top in the living room. It will look impressive solo, as a glass sculpture, or paired with other geometric vessels from the era. It is worth combining it with chrome elements, black lacquer, or strongly accented graphic art to emphasise its modernist pedigree. Smooth surfaces, a neutral background, and a detail of natural wood will bring out the depth of colour and the rhythm of the vertical grooves.
