Soapstone chess, wooden box, by Rajasthan Gems - India - 80s

Vintage chess - indian crafts - rajasthan gems - 1980s. Hand-carved soapstone pieces. Soapstone is a metamorphic rock with supposedly soothing virtues for the epidermis. These pieces are available here in nuanced yellow and intense black base. The interior of the wooden box, with metal clasps is covered with fabric (note a partial discoloration of the part that hosts the legs - see photos) The game board is made of synthetic material evoking marble. The box is in excellent condition, very solid, free of any accident. Five pieces have some tiny gaps of material (see last photos) Impeccable for the rest. Box dimensions: 25 cm X 25 cm X 4.5 cm. Height of the pieces: from 3.5 cm (pawn) to 5.5 cm (king) Weight of pieces: from 11 gr (pawn) to 23 gr (king) Total weight, including box: 1.5 kg.
