Blue and white porcelain plate from China, Qing dynasty, late 19th to early 20th century. Hard-paste white porcelain. Plate turned and then hand-decorated in cobalt under the glaze before high-temperature firing. Circular shape with a slightly flared rim. Hand-painted decoration in blue monochrome representing a stylised landscape composed of bamboo, flowering plants, and rocks. The rim is adorned with a geometric frieze and the edge of the plate with a floral frieze. End of the Qing dynasty, around 1880-1910. China. Diameter 22.5 cm X 2.5 cm high. Thickness of the paste is 1.5 mm. Generally in good condition with slight chips on the rim, see photos. Some defects in the paste, due to traditional Chinese craftsmanship. Was intended for the European market and export.
