The "scala" model is the armchair version of the "bémole" chair, both launched on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the baumann house for the 1971-1972 season - the firm's first production equipped with a sled footing, and described as a "high-end avant-garde seat". Several versions have existed around the standard "all beech", as here, with a teak folder headband. This copy has been "unt bothered" to deliver an even more vintage and patinated look "shabby" (protective matte finish). --- good to see - at the time, baumann used as a foundation a strong elastic canvas that has aged very badly, and most of these models, even when you find them with their starting fabric in good condition, reveal, as soon as one sits there, a sagging seat whose frame "cuts" the underside of the thighs and which thus turns out to be redone. -- the base of our copy has been completely redone - with a real strapping (professional). Choice of a graphic velvet fabric by french publisher, patented "aquaclean" (washable, detachable), ton green gray (less bluish as tends to make the photo a little), whose motif rhymes perfectly with the architecture of the scala. Ready to pose. Height 81 cm; 44 cm seating height; seat 49 X 45 cm; width between 48.5 cm armrests.
