Restoration / Empire period desk in mottled mahogany – 19th century. Important mid-century desk from the Restoration period, circa 1820-1840, featuring an elegant architecture with two console-style supports connected by a wide cross panel. The piece is made of mahogany and mottled mahogany, offering beautiful warm tones and particularly decorative grain. The rectangular top is covered with an antique green leather, framed by a gilded frieze. The apron opens with a large drawer at the front and conceals a wide sliding writing surface, also covered in green leather and highlighted with a gilded border, significantly increasing the workspace. The base, very characteristic of the Restoration period, consists of two powerful console-style supports with scrolls, resting on rectangular bases. They are connected by a transverse panel, giving the whole piece a beautiful stability and architectural presence. A piece of high-quality cabinetry, retaining an old patina. The leather and wood show traces, scratches, and signs of use visible in the photographs, consistent with the age of the desk. Period: Restoration, first half of the 19th century, circa 1820-1840. Dimensions: H. 80 cm × L. 130 cm × D. 70 cm. Materials: mottled mahogany, green leather. Condition: generally good antique condition, with wear and signs of use.
