Design hanging lamp by danish jørgen gammelgaard, model tip-top, made of white lacquered metal. Gammelgaard got the idea for his multi-shade tip top lamp while working for the un in samoa. A simple fluorescent tube was the only light jørgen gammelgaard had during his stay in samoa in the 60s. To get a better quality of light, the fluorescent tube was placed upright and fitted with a series of cut-off plastic lids. This was the inspiration for this lamp, which was purchased by the state art fund immediately after its presentation. The lamp consists of 6 hand-printed shades and a plinth cover. It is about 33 cm high and 19 cm in diameter and the color is not shiny white but more matte/ cracked white. Max. 60 w special incandescent bulb. Small/common traces of wear and tear, but overall very nice condition, we would give it 8/10 in character. Note: we have had to change 3 nuts inside the lamp, so they are not the original ones, please see the last picture, but it has absolutely no importance but must be mentioned. The cord is also newer. This lamp has been put into production again and they are extremely expensive from new (over 1000 €), at the same time this is one of the original of older date. A piece of danish design art, and a true classic. The special long bulb is included in the price (they can also be bought anywhere on the internet. Will be packed securely and sent with insurance.
