Originally to keep love letters, this exquisite box is in magnificent condition. Letterbox made of japanese lacquer (called fubako) lacquered black and tied with a brown ribbon, protected in its original light wood box also attached with a ribbon. The side of the box has a metal part and a ribbon and then a fastener. This vintage japanese lacquer box is called a "fumi bako" and was originally used as a container for letters. It has two clasps fitted on the sides of the lower section with a tape attached and used to tie the two sections (lid and base container) together. A japanese glossy black lacquered mailbox (fubako). With case, antique vintage storage décor from japan. Can also be used as a glove box and jewelry box. A very elegant luxury gift! The room is housed in its original kiri box, with its own storage straps, and was used to display precious treasures, and to protect beautiful objects from moisture. Although it is not considered a normal storage box, it continued to play an important role for the japanese. Having your original hand-signed box makes this piece even more valuable because it bears the signature and identification of the manufacturer. Lacquer box dimensions: 9.6"/24.6 wide X 4.3"/11 cm wide X 1.1"/2.8 cm high. Measure the outer wooden box: 10.5"/ 26.8 cm w X 5.2" / 13.4 cm wide and 2.3"/6 cm high. Total weight: 507 grams.
