Designed in 1954 by Constant Nieuwenhuijs for Asmeta, the ZT shelf is an example of post-war modernist design: clean lines, understated construction, timeless silhouette. Constant is best known as a central figure in the CoBrA movement and the Situationist International, making this functional piece particularly interesting to document. The exterior shows a patina of use consistent with the age of the piece. The interior back has an area of rust and flaking lacquer, visible in the photos.
