Vintage Murano ashtray in Sommerso red and yellow glass, Italy

Superb vintage ashtray or catch-all in Murano glass, retaining its original label "Murano – Made in Italy". Its square architectural shape contains a bowl in ruby red and amber yellow hues, encased in a thick mass of transparent glass. The layered colours evoke the Sommerso glass technique, emblematic of the Italian glassmaking tradition. Both a utilitarian object and a true glass sculpture, this piece offers stunning effects of depth and transparency. Ideal as an ashtray, catch-all, or decorative object on a coffee table, console, or shelf. Condition: Generally in beautiful vintage condition. Glass worn at some corners. There is a small chip on the lower left side, very discreet and practically invisible when the object is placed down. This flaw does not detract from its overall aesthetic. Original label retained. Origin: Murano, Italy. A beautiful piece of vintage Italian glassware, with a graphic and timeless design.
