Two-body buffet in Japanese style - art and crafts - circa 1900 art nouveau. This two-body buffet from the 1900s is inspired by Japanese design. The wavy cut of the central part is notable, and the quarter-round supports for the shelves are directly derived from Japanese low tables. The contrasting moiré grain of the wood on the door frames evokes the Shou-sugi-ban technique (wood slightly burned on the surface). The handles have a distinctive rounded shape. The wavy yellow glass panes resemble lanterns. The rigidity of the structure is slightly highlighted by the Japanese-inspired details. It is a production in the Art and Crafts style, probably Belgian. Due to its age, this piece shows multiple signs of wear, including numerous scratches and usage marks. The varnish is very worn in places, scratched, clumped, and tense. The interior is painted beige - the paint is worn. There are a few screw holes inside. The piece can be used as is in a "wabi-sabi" spirit, which is dear to the Japanese. This is an aesthetic concept derived from Zen Buddhist principles. Wabi means simplicity, melancholy, nature - "sabi" refers to the alteration of time, the appreciation of aged things, the patina of objects. It disassembles into 2 pieces.
