Large Longwy “Pompadour” blue-green plate – circa 1900

Splendid and rare antique fine earthenware plate signed Longwy, "Pompadour" model, dated between 1870 and 1914. Its deep blue-green printed decoration depicts a sailing boat gliding along a tree-lined river, framed by delicately engraved floral and rocaille motifs. The finesse of the line, the transparency of the glaze, and the very glossy finish are testament to the remarkable expertise of the Longwy factory, at its artistic peak at this time. This Pompadour model embodies the grace of romantic French earthenware from the Belle Époque: a perfect balance between ornament and rustic softness. Rare in this sea-green shade and in exceptional condition – luminous surface, intact glaze, clean and uniform decoration. Stamped Longwy – Pompadour (blue stamp) + intaglio molded seal V 4 / 1092.
