A very large unique handmade wool rug from the 1970s in multicoloured geometric design. This natural wool rug features a geometric pattern on a colourful palette. It would look amazing in many interiors either modern or vintage. Second image is for size comparison. This specific rug comes from the rebellious region of kabylie mountains from north algeria where locals still speak the berber amazigh language. The wool yarns are from ethically grown livestock of locals who dyed and treated with traditional and organic methods hence the high finishing quality. All rugs should be washed in cold water and dry flat to avoid discolouration. This type of massive rugs are called ‘hanbel’ were they used to cover many members of the family at once when they used to sleep during cold winters at night. Creator: uknown. Place of origin: kabylie, algeria. Date of manufacture: 1970s. Period: 1970-1979. Materials & techniques: fabric, cotton, wool, handmade in weaving loom. Condition: very good.
