Magnificent stoneware platter from Puisaye with a beautiful slightly pyritic glaze in soft colours of ecru, caramel, and chocolate, typical materials and colours of the 1970s. Its design is simple and elegant. A beautiful artisanal work by potter Jean-Pierre Prud’homme. It is not signed, but on one hand, I recognise the glazing work of Jean-Pierre Prud’homme with certainty, and on the other hand, it is part of a very large service by Prud’homme that I have collected, several pieces of which are signed. Jean-Pierre Prud’homme did not sign all the pieces of the same service. Jean-Pierre Prud’homme founded a handmade pottery workshop with his wife in 1971 in Monnaie, working with clay from Nièvre (Puisaye stoneware). This workshop still exists today (atelier Au grès du vent), run by his son Benoît, who took over in the 1990s-2000s and also created very beautiful ceramics. This platter dates from the 1970s and is in perfect condition, with no cracks, chips, or even a scratch. The platter measures 31 cm in diameter and has a maximum thickness of 2.5 cm (at the rim).
