Crystal flutes – 1960s

Set of 8 clear crystal flutes, French work from the 1960s. The construction is sharp and clear. A long, elongated chalice, rhythmically defined by a regular vertical cut. At the base, a denser register: a relief checkered pattern, almost architectural, that captures and fragments the light. The stem is not neutral. It is designed with a slight curve, a point of visual balance between the tension of the chalice and the base of the foot. Nothing is gratuitously ornamental. Everything is about proportion. Height 18 cm. Diameter 5.5 cm. Height of the chalice 12 cm. Clear crystal, beautiful resonance. No chips, no cracks. Fine and consistent wear on the bases. This type of glassware belongs to an era where discreet detail made all the difference. On a contemporary table, it does exactly the opposite of the mundane: it structures without imposing. €78.
