Very elegant ceramic asparagus dish in barbotine dating from around 1900, complete with its removable draining stand. The piece consists of a large platter with naturalistic shapes decorated with foliage and raised asparagus tips, in very beautiful shades of greens and turquoise blues. The ribbed stand, mimicking a bundle of asparagus tied with burgundy ties, allows the asparagus to be held at an angle for draining while providing a particularly decorative presentation at the table. This type of dish was used for serving asparagus at grand tables in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. It is now highly sought after for its decorative character and its naturalistic charm typical of French barbotine productions. An object that is both utilitarian and decorative, perfect for a spring table, a characterful kitchen, or a collection of antique ceramics. Overall good condition with slight signs of use consistent with age. A charming and decorative piece, emblematic of the table arts of the Belle Époque.
