Grey glazed scroll vase going towards brown by jacques and dani ruelland. The vase is glazed brown on the inside. Ruelland's signature incised under the base. The vase dates from the 1960s. Very good condition height 20 cm, diameter 6 cm a student at the end of the 1940s in the painting section of the école nationale supérieure des beaux-arts in paris, jacques ruelland turned to working with clay in 1951. With his partner, danielle, he learned ceramics at the atelier des beaux-arts in paris. Jacques ruelland enjoyed working with oxides and was inspired by painting. In 1970, the couple left paris to settle in the south of france where they occupied two studios in mont-ventoux and les angles. Jacques and danielle ruelland refused to compartmentalize their research, continuing to experiment with forms, techniques and materials. Jacques and dani ruelland have made their mark on the history of ceramics. Their technique has continued to evolve over time, offering multiple shapes and objects, including their sculptural vases and the creation of "families of objects" such as their sets of bottles or assorted pieces, apple or fig vases, boxes or ovoids. So many works that have become cult, testimonies to their immense work of enamel on their material.
