‘Ciuingam’ sofa by De Pas, D’Urbino & Lomazzi for BBB Emmebonacina, 1967

Iconic three-seat ‘Ciuingam’ sofa designed by Jonathan De Pas, Donato D’Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi for BBB Emmebonacina in 1967. The sofa is characterised by its low, generous proportions and distinctive sequence of softly rounded upholstered volumes. Deep seat cushions, padded backrests and smoothly rising side sections form a continuous, enveloping silhouette, giving the sofa the relaxed yet highly expressive appearance associated with progressive Italian design of the late 1960s. Upholstered in warm cognac-coloured leather, the sofa has developed a rich patina over time. A highly recognisable design from one of Italy’s most influential post-war design collaborations. Dimensions: Depth X Height X Length: 100 X 64 X 210 cm. Seat height: 33 cm. Good vintage condition. The leather shows natural creasing, tonal variation and areas of surface wear and craquelure consistent with age and use. These contribute to the authentic character of the piece.
