1960's Wall Bookshelf

An original wooden wall shelf designed and produced in the 1960's. This piece doesn't have a producer label but it is believed to be designed and produced by uluv in former czechoslovakia. Uluv company was established at the end of 1945 with the main goal of supporting traditional czech folk art and craft. Throughout the second part of the 20th century, uluv produced products by many different artists and designers in various homeware and design categories. The influence of the tradition czech folk and craft can be clearly seen on this piece as well. While the sharp angled dynamic forms of the top and bottom parts of the shelf are in the style of the 1960's mid century movement, the plaited wood at the back of the upper part takes an inspiration from the traditional czech craft. This combination works very well and together with a brown honeycomb colour of the wood it creates a lovely overall design that has still shouts quality some 60 years after being produced. The size of the shelf is perfect for storing books, flowers, decorative object or lights. The shelf is in great vintage condition with a small damage on one of the straps and some light wear gained from the use over the years. It can be easily fixed to the wall and is foldable which allows the shelf to be comfortably transport or stored when necessary.
