Wrought iron and ceramic coffee table from the 60s, unsigned, Roger Capron. Planet model, black metal base. Very good condition considering its age (no cracked tiles). A little history: At the beginning of the 1960s, geometric abstraction and in particular optical art was in the spirit of the times. This is the golden age of Vasalery, Agam and many others. Artists whose work inspired Roger Capron, who created his famous "Planet" tile in 1964. A real brick that will be used to produce some of his most beautiful models of coffee table tops. This superb "op art" tile will be available in multiple versions, plain or striped and predominantly green-yellow or blue (more rare) The trays made, of variable size, are generally signed "R. Capron" in an angle and usually mounted on a base originally made of chromed steel (since largely oxidized). These bright tables are quite difficult to find, especially in perfect condition, the "Planet" tiles being particularly fragile.
