This pair of super rare armchairs was designed by Torben Skov for the Danish manufacturer Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik in the 1990s. It is the EJ 8 model. The geometric frame is made of chrome-plated metal. The rectangular seat and backrest are covered in natural red leather. The same element is found on the armrests. The form follows function – this is one of the main ideas of Bauhaus design, which is very evident here. The armchairs will find their place in studios and private settings. They fit perfectly as a strong accent in minimalist spaces. Torben Skov is a Danish graphic designer, primarily known for designing postage stamps. Since 1990, he has been designing stamps for Post Danmark. The need to create something completely different from graphic design led Torben Skov to take an interest in furniture design in the 1980s. In total, Torben Skov has created 35 projects, and his work is rare on the market. In addition to several awards, including stamps and first prize in Japan in a furniture competition, Torben Skov also had a solo exhibition at Designmuseum Danmark in 2007. Erik Jørgensen Møbelfabrik is a manufacturer founded in 1954 by saddler and designer Erik Jørgensen. In the 1970s, the company was considered a leader in Danish furniture design. Jørgensen gained a reputation for his extraordinary upholstery skills, inventive upholstered furniture, and unparalleled knowledge of sofas. The Erik Jørgensen brand reflects a passion for materiality and craftsmanship, evident in both classic and contemporary designs with sculptural elegance. The armchairs are in their original vintage condition. They show signs of age, with scratches on the leather and marks on the chrome parts. The seat height is 45 cm. The colours of the products shown in the photos may differ slightly from the actual ones. This is due to individual monitor settings and lighting conditions – the photos were taken in artificial light, which may affect the perception of colours. However, we strive to ensure that the photos reflect the actual appearance of the product as faithfully as possible. The offer may include photos of the item in a living space, but these are for illustrative purposes only.
