This is the iconic Model 781/2B, better known as the Simris or Olympia lamp—designed by Anders Pehrson in 1964 and manufactured by Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, Sweden. A masterclass in functional design, it features a chrome-plated frame with an adjustable arm, a layered black metal shade that directs light precisely while eliminating glare, and a leather-wrapped base that adds warmth and stability to the clean, technical form. The lamp gained worldwide fame when it was selected for the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich. A total of 16, 300 units, finished in white, were installed across the Olympic Village, press centers, and administrative buildings. This major commission solidified its status as a modern design classic—and it’s why the lamp is still widely referred to as the Olympia today. This example is in very good vintage condition, with only minor wear consistent with age. Fully original and well-preserved, it retains its rare original metal diffuser (often missing or replaced with plastic), as well as the original switch and plug, all in working order. Requires two E14 bulbs.A timeless piece of Swedish design history—equally at home in a modern office, living room, or reading nook.
