Magnificent original vintage chandelier by Kalmar with thick, textured glass pendants — each resembling elongated ice cubes. Handmade glass, metal mount with natural patina. Austria, 1970s. This model was often found in hotels, theatres, and interiors of that era. The light is soft, slightly diffused, and plays beautifully on the glass. J. Kalmar was founded in Austria at the end of the 19th century (around 1881) by Julius August Kalmar. Originally, the company specialised in metal forging and decorative elements, but quickly turned to the production of chandeliers and lamps, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern design. In the second half of the 20th century, particularly from the 1950s to the 1970s, Kalmar became known for its collaboration with leading architects and designers. It was during this period that the company began producing unique chandeliers and wall lights, often using Murano glass, brass, and other noble materials. Very good vintage condition. Composed of 54 glass elements. The wiring has been replaced by a professional electrician. Dimensions: width: 37 cm; height: 40 cm; maximum height of the lamp with cable: 95 cm. The weight of the lamp is 15 kg. The lamp requires 5 European E14 bulbs and is compatible with American E12 sockets. It works with standard, LED, or halogen bulbs, 220V for Europe and 110V for the USA.
