Louis XV two-body buffet with a gendarme hat

Louis XV two-body buffet in carved walnut. Very elegant Louis XV style two-body buffet, made of walnut, richly carved and crafted. The upper part opens with two doors, adorned with rocaille decorations and floral motifs. This model with a gendarme hat is enhanced by a garland of foliage and a carved floral basket motif in its centre. The interior of the upper section offers four levels of storage, with antique shelves. The lower part opens with two drawers at the top, followed by two moulded and carved doors, with a pull-out for cutting bread beneath the top. The whole is richly decorated with foliage, scrolls, and rocaille, with beautiful carved ornamentation running along the lower rail. The interiors are well-finished and glazed, and the patina is achieved with beeswax. The doors are mounted with lace pins. The facades feature very nice work of moulding and carving, highlighted by a warm patina of walnut. The curved uprights and feet accentuate the characteristic flowing silhouette of Louis XV furniture. This buffet is of high quality, due to the finesse of the work and its state of preservation. No major restoration has been necessary, just a good cleaning and finishing.
