Oil on panel expressionist. Rural landscape, School of Paris.

Beautiful post-war expressionist composition, evoking the School of Paris from the mid-20th century. The composition uses exaggerated and distorted vanishing lines to create tension in the street. The brushwork is generous and vibrant, and the use of thick black outlines to emphasise the architecture enhances the heavy and melancholic atmosphere of the landscape. The palette, dominated by muted, greyish, and earthy tones, is accentuated by dramatic contrasts, with touches of red on the rooftops and yellowish and purplish glows. A real favourite! Signs of wear and minor losses.
