There are patterns that seem suspended in time. The marie-louise model, produced by the moulin des loups & hamage factory in the 1920s and 30s, is one of them. A delicate, almost whispered floral frieze, placed on fine, slightly ivory-colored earthenware—one imagines these plates serving a salad or a fruit dessert in a bourgeois home in northern france. Carefully sourced, these two plates—one flat and one deep—form a charming duo, to be mixed or matched according to inspiration. They have gracefully survived the century, bearing a few discreet traces of their past, like a nostalgic accent on a contemporary table. Magnificent hues, still very bright: blue-black on an ivory background. Stamped "moulin des loups & hamage - france", the two stamps are very slightly different, period 1920-1930 diameters: 23 cms, height 2 cms for the dinner plate, 3 cms for the soup plate. Good for their age (light cracks under the glaze possible, but no chips, just a hairline crack on one plate and very slight wear to the pattern in one place on the other. To put down, to hang or to use every day, because beauty is also to be savored every day.
